CONDO AFFORDABILITY LOWER IN 2021 2Q
The Pacific Southwest Association of Realtors (PSAR) said housing affordability for condominiums and townhomes dropped in the 2021 second quarter, with 37 percent of California households earning the minimum annual household income to qualify for the purchase of a $585,000 medianpriced condo or townhome. The 37 percent figures compares to 40 percent in 2021 1Q and 44 percent in 2020 2Q. Citing affordability statistics from the California Association of Realtors (CAR), PSAR said a minimum annual income of $108,000 would be needed to qualify to purchase of a medianpriced condo or townhome and afford the monthly payments of $2,700. MEDIAN HOME PRICE HITS $865K IN JUNE
The Pacific Southwest Association of Realtors (PSAR) reports the median price for a single-family detached home in San Diego County reached a new high of $865,000 in June 2021, which was 1.6 percent higher than the May 2021 price of $851,000 and 27.6 percent higher than the June 2020 price of $678,000. Statewide, the median price for a single-family detached home in June set a new record high for the fourth straight month. It was the third consecutive month for the price to exceed the $800,000 benchmark. The median price increased slightly by 0.2 percent on a month-to-month comparison to $819,630 in June 2021, up from $818,260 in May 2021, and 30.9 percent from the $626,170 price recorded in June 2020.
