SAN DIEGO — Jan was born at midnight on the autumnal equinox in Los Angeles. She lived in Burbank for five years with her parents, John and Catherine and older sister Pam, before the family moved to San Diego. Jan grew up in Del Cerro, and attended Phoebe Hearst Elementary, Lewis Junior High and Patrick Henry High School.

She graduated with honors from SDSU in 1975 with a B.S. degree in Psychology, was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies, and then graduated from USD in 1977 with a Masters in Counseling.

Jan had diverse careers in counseling, program supervision and administration. She worked as a lecturer for SDSU, a Social Worker, Job Development Counselor and Field Investigator for the County of San Diego. She was Division Manager for SAIC and a Quality Improvement Manager for UCSD Heath.

Jan was passionate about traveling the world, was a dual citizen with US and Greek passports, and visited many countries in Africa, Asia, Central and South America, and Europe. Of all the places she explored, Bhutan left such a profound impact she requested her ashes be scattered there, as well as the villages in Greece where her grandparents were born.

Jan is survived by her sister Pam, her niece Danielle, cousins, and her cat Nico.
