SAN DIEGO, CA — Loretta passed while living at The Cloisters of the Valley Assisted Living. She was so grateful for the kindness and care of the business office personnel and nursing staff.

Loretta was predeceased by her parents Anne and George Eicher, and her beloved brother Ron.

Loretta was born in Brooklyn New York. She attended grade school and high school in Brooklyn, eventually graduating from Kings Park State Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1966.

Loretta followed her brother and parents to San Diego where she embarked on a 40-year career in nursing. Her career began at Scripps La Jolla and eventually to Sharp Healthcare, including Sharp Cabrillo and Sharp Memorial Hospitals . Loretta

was an extraordinary R.N., exemplifying the traditional and proud standards of nursing. During her career, on evenings and weekends, she continued her college training earning a master’s degree in education. As an R.N., she took the role of teaching those she led very proudly and seriously. Through the years many attributed their success to her mentoring and training.

As a nurse, her patients appreciated her compassion and knowledgeable nursing care. Her insight and intuition in providing care was exceptional. She was an expert at blending the reality of illness with a path forward and a little humor to ease the way.

Loretta was a devout Catholic, attending mass daily whenever possible. She volunteered using her teaching skills at her long-time parish, Good Shephard in Mira Mesa. It was her firm belief that she would now join her brother and parents in eternal peace.

Lorretta in survived by her nephew Steve and his wife Danielle Eicher of San Diego, nephew Michael and his wife Dawn Eicher of Hawaii, nephew Jimmy Eicher of Las Vegas, sister-in-law Toni Eicher of San Diego, her beloved kitty “Buddy”, along with grand nieces, nephews and devoted friends.
