SAN DIEGO —

The sky lit up when Matilde “Tillie” Arviso, 91, was welcomed into heaven on Thursday, September 9, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving husband, Henry, her children, and grandchildren.

As a native of San Diego, she was born to Angela and Evaristo Lopez on March 12, 1930. Faith and family (two brothers & nine sisters) were an important part of her upbringing. Family was everything to her.

Tillie married Henry on November 19, 1950, at St. Jude Catholic Church. They celebrated 71 years of blissful marriage. Out of their loving union, they raised four children (Linda, Henry, Sandy, and Denise), five grandchildren (Keri, Raymond, Breeann, and Tayler), and four greatgrandchildren (Bradley, Sienna, Valerie, and Mila). Tillie adored their spouses.

Tillie graduated from San Diego High School. Her main job was being Mom and Nana. She was a beautician and later employed by Pepper Drive Elementary School. Her passions were cooking, playing bunco, and being with friends and family.

Tillie would like us to mention all the people that were important to her. She loved her friends and her family unconditionally. A special thank you to the doctors, their staff, and caregivers that treated her like royalty.

Tillie wanted you to know who her favorite was…you are all her FAVORITE!

Thank you for making Tillie feel special and loved. Mom, we will all miss you!

A memorial service and “Celebration of Life” will be held at Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala, 10818 San Diego Mission Road, San Diego, CA 92108, on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.
