SAN DIEGO — San Diego, CA--DAN (Danny) was born to Benjamin and Bertha (Good) Twyman in Piedmont, West Virginia. After a lengthy illness, he slipped away in his sleep on December 23, 2021 at Covenant Living at Mount Miguel in Spring Valley, CA, the Village where he resided. He was second youngest of twelve children, all deceased. He grew up in Piedmont, graduated from high school there. At West Virginia University, Dan received his Bachelors and Masters degrees. He earned his doctorate from the United States Internatio­nal in San Diego, California. He was employed as a Counselor at San Diego Mesa College where he enjoyed working with people, and helping them find ways to meet their goals. Some became lifelong friends.

It was at a “Record Hop” that he met the woman who would share his life. He was 19 and she 17. He married Patricia Bruce in West Virginia on September 1, 1962. They were blessed with two daughters: Danene Marie, born in Morgantown, WV, and Danielle Patrice born in San Diego, CA. After graduating from West Virginia University, in 1969, he moved his family to California.

Dan enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening, and attending baseball and football games, family, neighborho­od, and other gatherings, and traveling, especially cruises. He and Patricia traveled to Mexico, China, Russia, Italy, Hawaii and to New Orleans for annual Jazz Festivals. He was an active member of the First

United Methodist Church, San Diego, working with children and with the Counseling Center.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia, daughters Danene Brown (Eric) and Danielle Lauria; two grandsons Nicholas Soares and Zachary Brown; two granddaugh­ters Josie and Sadie Lauria, all living in San Diego. Additional­ly, he leaves a sister-inlaw, Rosalie Twyman, Piedmont, WV and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services will be held Saturday, January 22 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church, San Diego. Services will be live streamed. Due to current health restrictio­ns, no reception will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the San Diego Humane Society (sdhumane.org/dan) or to the Benevolent Fund at Covenant Living at Mount Miguel, Spring Valley, California (www.covliving. org/giving).
