ALL PEOPLES CELEBRATIO­N BRINGS LOCALS TOGETHER

We enter 2022 after a difficult and historic series of local and world events that continue to impact how we work, how we teach and how we live.

As we celebrate and honor the life and the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. over the next few days, we should all take time to exhale and reflect on our personal experience of these historical­ly challengin­g times. I think what we need now more than ever is a message of healing, a message of unity and a message of hope.

For over 30 years, the All Peoples Celebratio­n has delivered hope to San Diego by creating a warm and welcoming space to honor the life and legacy of Dr. King. The All Peoples Celebratio­n offers a chance for all San Diegans, faith leaders, civil rights leaders, labor organizati­on leaders and others to gather and reflect on the teachings of Dr. King and what it means to build an inclusive democracy and manifest Dr. King’s vision of the “beloved community.”

“Love + Power” is the theme of the 34th annual All Peoples Celebratio­n. Love for our community coupled with the power of social justice action form the center of Dr. King’s teachings. The event will be virtual this year to ensure that we protect the health and safety of all community members during the COVID-19 pandemic. Even in a virtual space, we will uplift and share Dr. King’s spirit throughout our gathering from the opening invocation to the songs, dance and speakers who will grace our virtual stage.
