Food enthusiasts looking for a wide range of tasty bites and sips from different parts of the world can reserve March 31 on their calendars with the return of Taste of Third in Chula Vista.

Hosted by Third Avenue Village Association, the 26th annual event will highlight international cuisine prepared by about 25 to 30 participating businesses on Third Avenue, such as Italianissimo Trattoria, Bar Sin Nombre, Shake and Muddle, Dulcet and Farmer’s Table.

The event is scheduled to take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Tickets are priced at $40 for advance purchase starting Feb. 21 and increase to $45 starting March 1.

“It’s an honor to celebrate 26 years of this communityloved event,” Dominic Li Mandri, district manager of the Third Avenue Village Association, said in a statement. “It’s a great way to bring the community together and highlight the wide variety of businesses along Third Avenue. You can take your tastes and eat them as you walk from one participating business to the next or you can bring a blanket and have a mini picnic at Memorial Park. However you choose to enjoy your tastes, we encourage everyone to come out and enjoy a beautiful evening in our neighborhood.”

Upon arrival, attendees will check in at their scheduled time at Third Avenue and Park Way adjacent to Memorial Park, where they will be given their Taste of Third Passport. Guests will then make their way to each stop and pick up their “tastes” to enjoy at their leisure. There will also be live music, the association said.

This year’s Taste of Third was organized to offer a larger list of restaurants and entertainment over the course of one day rather than three. Several participating businesses have started preparing a menu to offer during the event.

“I think we’re going to go with creme puffs,” said Ivana Fernandez, who owns the new dessert shop Dulcet on Third Avenue near E Street. The business opened in early 2020 but had to endure a monthslong closure due to the pandemic. With many still unfamiliar with the shop, she hopes Taste of Third will offer her business some exposure.
