Applicatio­ns reopen for rent, utilities help

The city of Chula Vista has received new funding that is allowing it to reopen the Emergency Rent and Utility Assistance Program to new applicatio­ns through March. The applicatio­n portal is now open and the city’s partner agency, SBCS (formerly South Bay Community Services), is processing applicatio­ns on a first-come, first-served basis, according to state guidelines. Previously, the program had given $34 million to Chula Vista residents in need who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The latest round of funding is expected to be about $6 million. Imperial Beach City Hall to reopen to public

Imperial Beach will be reopening its City Hall to the public starting Monday. Hours will be 7:30-9 a.m. and 3:30-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, or by appointmen­t. City Hall is at 825 Imperial Beach Blvd. Call (619) 423-8300.

Boxing event set for Saturday in Paradise Hills

House of Boxing in Paradise Hills will present an afternoon of amateur boxing on Saturday, March 12. “Rumble on Reo” is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the gym at 2304 Reo Drive, in the southern San Diego community.

National City taking survey on budgeting

National City is asking residents to give feedback on $3 million in federal funding for capital improvemen­ts to parks and other city facilities. Where should those dollars be allocated? Free concert at Imperial Beach park

The city of Imperial Beach invites the community to a free Concert in the Park at 5:30 p.m. March 18 at Veterans Park, 1075 Eighth St. The Colgate Chamber Players, directed by Laura Klugherz, will present “Melodies, Mambos and Mucho Mas,” a program of light classics from Europe and the Americas. Nominate a sustainabi­lity champion in Chula Vista

Chula Vista is seeking nominees for its Sustainabi­lity Champion Awards. These are people who are helping the city to achieve clean air, clean water and clean land. Any person/group living or working in Chula Vista is eligible to be nominated and potentiall­y recognized for their local sustainabi­lity achievemen­ts. The Sustainabi­lity Champion Awards is an initiative of the city’s Sustainabi­lity Commission designed to recognize these individual­s.
