LINCOLN — Born Ada Lois Lucas on 1/12/1919, she lived in many places and had many lives in her 103 years. Those lives were mostly in service to others. She was a caretaker at an early age of her younger brother, Thomas, while she made money winning dance contests to help support her family. At age 9, she was sent to an orphanage where she was in charge of the younger children. She married Obie Fred Kennann before she was 18. She then alternated helping to care for Obie’s younger siblings & her Mother.

Lois & Obie lived in OK and NM before finally settling on staying in CA. She & Obie witnessed Japanese planes & submarines during WWII. She worked in the Convair factory building planes for the war effort. After the war, she owned a beauty salon. She & Obie enjoyed going out with their friends & dancing at the Paladium.

She & Obie decided to settle down and become property owners & parents in San Diego. They were successful landlords as well as keeping their professional jobs (Lois a swimming teacher, Obie at General Dynamics) all while raising their two daughters.

After Obie’s death in 1991, Lois spent time traveling to see family and gaining new experiences. She never liked sitting still, continuing to drive, travel & share a kind word with those less fortunate well into her 90’s. She slowed down after some bone breaking falls but even after being told walking wasn’t likely, she defied the doctors and got right back up. Her motto was “either flop or move forward”.

She enjoyed getting to know new people in every situation & always had advice to share. She passed comfortably in her sleep in January of 2022. Her daughter, De Vertis Guerra, passed in November 2021. She is survived by her daughter, Marlene Cross. She was loved & will be missed.
