SAN DIEGO, CA — Dennis Allan Novak peacefully passed away, surrounded by his family, on February 24, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dennis was born on March 18, 1950 to Gwen and Albert Novak in San Diego, California. He spent the majority of his younger life living in the East San Diego area and attended Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Saint Augustine and Hoover High schools. He was active in school activities and served as the school mascot, the cardinal bird, at Hoover High School.

He graduated from United States Internatio­nal University earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theater and Dance. Dance was his passion. He spent many years with the California Ballet company teaching and playing various rolls including an audience favorite, Mother Ginger, from the Nutcracker. Later, he became a financial manager with Drake, Beam and Moran, specializi­ng in outplaceme­nt services where he worked for more than 10 years.

Loved by his friends, neighbors and family, Dennis always made them feel special, as he was able to convey how much he cared about them. He always exhibited a positive attitude and a great sense of humor. He had a great smile and a warm heart. He will indeed be deeply missed by all.

Dennis is survived by his brother Rick, sister-in-law Beverly and nephew Kevin Hagens. He was preceded in death by his beloved partner Tommy Crawford.

Services will be held at Erickson-anderson Mortuary in La Mesa on March 25, at 12:30 PM, immediatel­y followed by a Celebratio­n of Life at his home.
