Ask the candidates what they really believe

Re “Issa is laying low on RNC dispute and whether Jan. 6 riot was a ‘violent

insurrection’” (Feb. 13): I found the article interesting because our representative Darrell Issa shouldn’t hold back information about how he feels about all issues relevant to his job. I believe he doesn’t/didn’t want to discuss the subject because he doesn’t support democracy. He voted against certifying the election, claiming the election was stolen. He believes Donald Trump should be president based on his Jan. 6 vote.

All he wants to talk about are Joe Biden’s failures, and there are plenty. However, Issa is my representative, and his beliefs matter to me. Not believing in the peaceful transfer of power is the most important. He failed us in a time of crisis. He buckled under pressure from Trump supporters for perpetuating the “Big Lie.” This lie only divides us more. He’s a hypocrite. Country before party. Jay L. Warren San Marcos
