EASTER EGG HUNTING IS BACK IN PERSON ACROSS COUNTY

San Diego County is hopping with Easter egg hunts and festivitie­s. Here is a sampling of egg hunts coming up over the next two weeks across the county. Many of the family-oriented events are back in person this year, some are drive-thru and some are underwater.

CAMPO

Bunny Train: Ride a train, meet the Easter Bunny and join an Easter egg hunt at 10:30 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 1:45 p.m. and 3 p.m. April 9, 10 and 16 at Pacific Southwest Railway Museum, 750 Depot St. Tickets are $14–$40. Visit psrm.org.

CARLSBAD

Eggstravag­anza Spring Festival: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 16 at Poinsettia Community Park, 6600 Hidden Valley Road. Multiple egg hunts with groups of 20-30 kids scrambling for eggs. Separate fields for children ages 6 and older; ages 5 and younger; and young children or kids with special needs. Family scavenger hunt, photos with the Easter Bunny, fun zone with bounce houses and giant slide. $5 activity cards and $5 unlimited Fun Zone Wristbands available at city community centers through April 15. CARMEL VALLEY

CHULA VISTA

Meet Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny: Children can meet costumed characters from noon to 3 p.m. April 16 at the Terra Nova Plaza outdoor shopping center, 394 E. H St. Highlights include magic show, Easter craft, rock climbing wall, giant slide obstacle course and bouncer along with balloon artists, face painters and free cotton candy and churros. CORONADO

Breakfast with Easter Bunny: Breakfast buffet from 9 to 10:30 a.m. April 16 at the Coronado Community Center, Nautilus Room, 1845 Strand Way. Highlights include egg hunt, Easter crafts, games and visit with the Easter Bunny. Bring camera and Easter basket. Tickets are $16; $12 for age 12 and younger. EL CAJON

“Eggstravag­anza”: Parkway Plaza shopping center holds event from 1 to 3:30 p.m. April 12. Students from four Cajon Valley Elementary schools have been chosen to paint 4-foot-tall Easter eggs, and a poll will be shared to @visitparkw­ayplaza for the community to vote on their favorites. The winning school will receive a $500 donation to its art program. For those not participat­ing in the egg-painting contest, there will be craft stations, face painting, a bunny hop sack race, a DJ and more. Also, the Easter Bunny will be available for photos at Parkway Plaza from April 2-16. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. ESCONDIDO

Easter egg hunt at church:

FALLBROOK

Egg Hunt & Pancakes: Egg hunt is 10:30 a.m. April 9 for children at the Fallbrook Community Center, 341 Heald Lane. IMPERIAL BEACH

Easter service: St. James Lutheran Church invites all to its annual Easter Sunrise Service at 8 a.m. April 17 at Imperial Beach Pier Plaza, followed by a free community breakfast at 9:30 a.m. Another service follows at 10:45 a.m. At noon, all children are invited to the Easter Egg Hunt on the lawn. LA MESA

Easter Bunny and more: Parkway Plaza hosts the Easter Bunny from April 2-16 with family photo packages offered by Boffo Entertainm­ent. Appointmen­ts encouraged at https:// boffo-entertainm­ent.square.site. The center also hosts a special day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 16 with free, family-friendly fun. Find face painting, balloon animals, games and more in the Courtyard, plus a mall-wide scavenger hunt going on all day. Kids can pick up a clue sheet from the Guest Services booth, which will guide them to stores where they can collect stamps. Completed sheets can be returned to Guest Services for an Easter prize. LEMON GROVE

Eggstravag­anza: Starting at 9 a.m. April 16 at the Lemon Grove Recreation Center, 3131 School Lane. Bring your own basket The egg hunt is organized into four age groups with different starting times: Ages 0-2, 9 a.m.; ages 3-5, 9:10 a.m.; ages 6-8, 9:20 a.m.; ages 9-12, 9:30 a.m. Each age group has a special egg to find. Also, game booths, face painting, obstacle course and other activities until 11 a.m. Bring your camera to take a photo with Benny the Bunny and Lemon Grove’s famous City Kitty. Aquarium’s Eggstravag­anza: The Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institutio­n of Oceanograp­hy at UC San Diego, hosts a celebratio­n from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 9-10 and April 16-17 featuring an exploratio­n of the diversity of eggs in the ocean and how ocean animals take care of their eggs. Easter Eggsperien­ce Drive-thru: 1 to 3 p.m. April 10 outside the Kroc Center, 6845 University Ave. Children visually hunt for large Easter eggs while their families drive them around the outside of the Kroc Center campus. Along the route, children receive an Easter basket with goodies to take home. There are various 10-minute time slots.
