SAN DIEGO, CA — Lou Oberman, born on 12/28/31, succumbed to congestive heart failure at the comfort of Coastal Breeze Assisted Care on 3/22/22. Lou was a very caring boyfriend, father, grandfather, and friend to many people. Lou is survived by his loving girlfriend, Nancy Buchan, daughter Caryn, son Marc, son Brian, three loving grandchildren Erinn, Emily, and Dayton, and his loving extended Van Houten family.

Lou was born in Manhattan, New York City. Growing up, Lou was nuts about baseball and wanted to be a Major League Baseball player. During his senior year, his high school baseball team won the 1949 New York City Baseball Championship, and he was invited to tryout for NY Giants, however a serious foot and leg infection, prevented him from going.

Lou served the USMC from 1952 – 1960, where he served as an Instrument Flight Instructor to Reserved WWII Pilots.

He moved his family to Palos Verdes in 1969 and joined a Beverly Hills financial planning firm. In 1988, he met his partner and dear friend, Steve Van Houten, where they formed Lifetime Financial Advisors in Encinitas.

Lou has also been very dedicated to Rotary, where he first joined in 1981 and was an honored member until the day he passed away. His passion for Golf was more than anyone we know, who only wanted in his remaining years to score lower than his age of 90 years old. And he DID!

Lou had endured a tremendous number of Health challenges and after many recent setbacks, he became very weak, and proved to show that it was his time to be with God. Despite the pain, Lou came out as our Hero, and stayed strong until the end. One Huge positive was that we were all close with Lou through this process which brought us deeper into communion during his last few weeks.

May you rest in peace, Lou, Dad, Grandpa, and Uncle for eternity in Heaven.

We Love you Lou and we will miss you Dearly.
