Bonita Optimists readying for bike rodeo

The Bonita Optimists Club invite the community to a Kids Bike Safety Rodeo from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 30 at Bonita Valley Community Church, 4744 Bonita Road. Local law enforcemen­t representa­tives and first responders have been invited to teach children in grades K-6 about the rules of the road and other safety measures. Bring your bicycle and helmet; free bike and helmet inspection­s. Fun activities for non-riders too. Food for sale from El Tigre Catering Services. All children must be accompanie­d by a parent or guardian. Children must already know how to ride a bike, or the bike must have training wheels. Coronado gearing up for 100th flower show The 100th annual Coronado Flower Show, produced by the Coronado Floral Associatio­n and the city of

Coronado, and supported by the County of San Diego, returns April 23-24 after a two-year hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The show offers landscape displays and a variety of floral competitio­ns while also educating the public. Visitors can also enjoy live bandstand entertainm­ent, food, a beer and wine garden, as well as shopping featuring local artists and small businesses. National City invites cleanup sessions

National City residents are invited to register their households at www.joinnatcit­y.com, using Activity 5302, for Community Service Month 2022. Registrati­on closes April 24. Log your cleanup activities (virtual and in-person) and submit your photos through April 29 at www.nationalci­tyca.gov/ Csmonth. The cleanups will culminate in an Earth Day celebratio­n from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. April 30 at Kimball Park with a park cleanup, children’s activities and a free lunch. Volunteers are needed. Food distributi­ons coming up this month Feeding San Diego is hosting these drive-through food distributi­ons:
