January 12, 1954 - February 10, 2022

CARLSBAD, CA — Thomas Edward Quinn, 68, of Carlsbad, California passed away peacefully on February 10, 2022, after living courageously with cancer. Tom grew up in Braintree, Massachusetts but moved to California for the sunshine and beautiful beaches. Tom was an electrical inspector for the San Diego School District before retiring. He was also a carpenter, car mechanic and enthusiast, a gardener and rosarian.

Tom was a marathon runner in his younger years and ran races throughout southern California. He was an avid bicyclist and enjoyed riding along the beach. Tom lived on the west coast, but was a Bostonian at heart and always wore a Red Sox baseball cap. He remained close with high school buddies and sweethearts.

Tom was a true Irishman, handsome, loving, good natured, kind to animals, and had a quick wit that could bring people to tears with laughter. He was a devoted son to his parents and cared for his mother after his father passed away. Tom was loved dearly by all who knew him and will be fondly remembered as a caring brother, good neighbor, and cherished friend. Tom will be missed here on earth but joins his parents in heaven.

Tom’s passing was preceded by his father, Edward P. Quinn and mother, Lorraine W. Quinn. He was one of six children. The only son, he is survived by his five sisters: Patricia Bartlett of Rancho Santa Fe, CA; Diane Scheinman of Franklin, MA; Eileen Quinn of Anza, CA; Lorraine Sandstrom of San Clemente, CA; and Maureen Behmer of San Diego, CA. Tom is also survived by his nieces, nephews, and relatives on both coasts.

Tom will be laid to rest at the El Camino Memorial Park in Sorrento Valley, CA. Private family services and a celebration of life will be held in Tom’s honor. If you would like to remember Tom, please consider a donation to a cancer foundation or local animal shelter on his behalf.
