Goodwill Week offers employment events
Every year during the first full week of May, Goodwill San Diego and other Goodwill organizations across the United States and Canada celebrate Goodwill Week with events to highlight their mission: to provide training and job opportunities to those with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Job seekers should come dressed for an interview and with copies of their résumé. Events will be held in-person and online. To register, visit sdgoodwill.org. The schedule:
• Recruitment Day: 1011:30 a.m. Monday, in-person at 3663 Rosecrans St., Classroom C, San Diego, and online. Job opportunities at Goodwill San Diego including in security, retail, donations and truck driving. Complete an application at sdgoodwill.org/jobs to have available during the event. Forhelp, visit a Community Employment Center. • Teachers Day: 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, online. Learn about education opportunities at Southwestern Community College Continuing Education and at South Bay Adult Education Consortium.
• Job Fair: 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesday, in-person at 3663 Rosecrans St., Classroom C, San Diego, and online. Meet with local employers and learn about career possibilities. Employers include Accentcare, Alliance Environmental Group, Amazon, Everest Recruiting, Grand Pacific Resorts, Lot Management, Transdev, and UCSD.
• Paid Training Presentation: 10-11 a.m. Thursday, online. Learn about Goodwill’s Paid Training Program and how to participate. This is a three-month, hands-on paid retail program.
• Résumé Workshop: 10-11 a.m. Friday, online. Update or create a winning résumé. One-on-one opportunities available. Goodwill San Diego sells donated items in more than 33 retail stores in San Diego and online at shopgoodwill.com. The revenue creates job opportunities and training programs.
