Workshop on social media for business
The East County Small Business Development Center hosts a virtual workshop on “How Social Media Can Make or Break Your Business” from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday. Neighborhood Earth Day in El Cajon
Families can enjoy free vegan food, crafts for kids, and information on local environmental issues at a free “Every Day Is Earth Day” event from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday in Hillside Center Park, 840 Bueno Terrace, El Cajon. Grilled vegan hamburgers and hot dogs will be available, and kids can paint terracotta pots and plant succulents in them to take home. The event is co-sponsored by the East County BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) coalition and Sandiego350, a climate action nonprofit. Contact eastcountybipoc@gmail.com.
Artist reception Tuesday at gallery
The Hyde Art Gallery at Grossmont College offers its final display of the academic year with its annual Spring Student Art Exhibition, running now through June 1. A reception is scheduled from 4-7 p.m.
Tuesday at the Gallery, which is in Grossmont College’s Performing and Visual Arts Center, 8800 Grossmont College Drive, El Cajon. The free exhibition highlights the most innovative art and design projects produced by students through the semester, including ceramics, sculpture, painting, drawing, jewelry, digital media and photography. Comedy one-acts at Grossmont College
The award-winning Stagehouse Theatre at Grossmont College wraps up its 20212022 season with a production of “All in the Timing.” The production was written by David Ives and directed by Grossmont College theatre arts instructor and Broadway actor Geno Carr. This collection of six one-act plays was the winner of the John Gassner Memorial Playwriting Award and combines wit and satire. Showtimes are 7:30
p.m. Thursday through Saturday and also 2 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $16 for general admission, $12 for seniors and military, and $10 for students and educators. Lemon Grove seeks commission members
The Lemon Grove City Council is taking applications to fill vacancies on the Planning Commission. Applicants must be 18 years old or older, live within Lemon Grove and be registered to vote in Lemon Grove. Find applications at https://bit.ly/3wgnbod. Nonprofit looking for parents for puppies
The La Mesa-based nonprofit The Animal Pad, an all-breed dog rescue that saves dogs from high-kill shelters and the streets of Mexico, recently teamed with Trustedhousesitters to help one of their newest rescues. The Animal Pad staff rescued a pregnant dog from Tijuana that gave birth to 13
puppies. Now The Animal Pad is looking for homes for the 12 surviving pups. Trustedhousesitters is sponsoring the mom and her puppies by paying medical bills and will be donating $100 per puppy to The Animal Pad. Visit theanimalpad.org.
