Sweetwater Community Cleanup Saturday

Join I Love A Clean San Diego, Sweetwater Regional Park, and the County of San Diego for a litter cleanup from 8-10 a.m. Saturday near the park. Volunteers will divert litter from the watershed and keep it from entering the Pacific Ocean. Check-in table and supplies will be at the north end of Conduit Road, next to Sweetwater Regional Park. At 8 a.m., the Education Team will give a talk about watersheds and how to recycle. Then volunteers can grab supplies and help clean up. Olivewood Gardens hosts tour, open garden

It’s “Open Garden” time at Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center this Saturday. Free public tours will start at 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., and guests can enjoy the gardens. No registrati­on required. Olivewood Gardens is at 2525 N Ave., National City. Visit olivewoodg­ardens.org.

Annual Lemon Festival celebrates citrus

Downtown Chula Vista’s Third Avenue Village Associatio­n hosts the city’s 25th annual Lemon Festival from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday to honor the city’s rich agricultur­al history. Chula Vista was once known as “Lemon Capitol of the World.” This year’s Lemon Festival includes two stages of live music, photo ops, food, arts and crafts vendors, a wine and beer garden and more. Local restaurant­s will compete in a Lemon Cook Off on the main stage by Memorial Park around 2 p.m. The Little Lemon Kids Zone will include the San Diego Gulls and the Living Coast Discovery Center, huge inflatable­s and face painters. Brewery hosts vinyl record festival

Original 40 Brewing Company is hosting Vintage & Vinyl, a free vinyl record buy-sell-trade event with Weekend Records SD and pop-up shops Day to Day Vintage and Revival Vintage Eyewear, at 4 p.m. Saturday. National City library extends hours

Eastlake High School STEAM event coming up

Students in grades 6-12 are invited to the eighth annual G.I.R.L.S (Girls Inspiring Real Leadership in Steam) Conference from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at Eastlake High School in Chula Vista or streamed online on Twitch. The school‘s robotics team, Titanbot, is a FIRST Robotics Competitio­n team. Students can hear selected inspiratio­nal speakers from STEAM careers and leadership background­s and make connection­s as leaders in STEAM.
