Dallys Teneau Marechal

-

VISTA, CA —

Our dearly beloved mother passed away on July 24, 2021. She was born on July 29, 1924 in New York. All that knew her loved her for her friendliness and positive outlook on life.

She is survived by her brother Peter in Portland, Oregon and by her children, Peter in New Bern, NC, Tina in Vista, CA, Tony in Stuart, FL, and Rex in Australia. She has three grandchildren, Tasman, Chloe, and Maillie plus a great-grandchild Vali in Australia.

She came to California after the war, to La Jolla, where she met our father James Kapp Marechal, who owned, along with his parents, the Del Charro Hotel on Torrey Pines Dr. They hosted many Hollywood stars and many notable personalities.

July 29, 1924 - July 24, 2021

After a courtship and marriage, they moved to Del Mar and lived on 9th St. until Dad had a house designed for them on Orchid Ln. Our dad subsequently designed a house on Oribia Rd in Del Mar as the family got larger. Our mother was a den mother, swimming instructor and cooking aficionado in Del Mar, where we grew up.

We then decided to

move to Escondido and built a house in Quiet Hills that our father designed. Later, they restored the 2nd oldest house in Escondido on 3rd St. We had many wonderful times there, as Mom was the consummate mother. We would talk to her about anything, do hobbies such as music and painting; she was very supportive of all of our endeavors.

While we lived in Escondido, our father decided to get into the restaurant business, and Dallys was all for it. Dad started JK’S restaurant. That is when Mom’s love of antiques began. She collected and sold many antiques. She did many road trips to different venues and enjoyed every minute of it. She continued collecting until the day she passed.

She and Jimmy traveled to many countries and they enjoyed France in particular, as Mom had relatives there. They loved the Caribbean and Bahamas and had a charter sailboat and house on Guana Cay. They also had a plant nursery on Moloka’i and a condo on Maui.

In her house in Vista many collectables surrounded her, along with beautiful gardens with over 150 palms, and many cookbooks as she loved to cook, but her real love was for us: her children. Especially after Dad passed away, she gave us her knowledge, wisdom, forgiveness and positive outlook on life.

Mom you may be gone, but you will never be forgotten.
