Peterson new civic practice leader at HMC Architects
Kyle Peterson, AIA, managing principal of HMC Architects’ San Diego office, has been promoted to the company’s new civic practice leader. HMC Architects specializes in healthcare, education and civic architecture.
Peterson brings deep experience to his new role, as well as a commitment to building and strengthening client relationships, according to an HMC news release. His promotion underscores HMC’S belief in developing and promoting internal talent and recognizes Peterson’s role as a leader, mentor and award-winning expert in the civic market.
He will work across all HMC’S offices in his new role, leveraging talent from each studio to develop a dedicated civic team. He will also lead business development and continue to support Prek-12 school districts with whom he has longstanding relationships.
Peterson joined HMC in 2001. He began his career as a designer and eventually moved into project management and architect roles.
In the last five years, he’s been primarily involved in the active pursuit of new work and management and development of large Prek-12 and civic projects.
“I am thrilled to be named HMC’S civic practice leader and can’t wait to engage with the fantastic talent across the firm to grow this practice and create a positive impact through our work,” said Peterson. “Civic projects have been a passion of mine my entire career, and I’m excited to share our mission of Design for Good with our clients and communities.”
