April 8, 1929 - September 11, 2022

SAN DIEGO, CA — Betty Wanita Reber passed away peacefully on September 11, 2022 at Sharp Grossmont Hospital while surrounded by her family.

Betty, better known as “Grammie”, was born April 8, 1929 in Sugarcreek, Pennsylvania. She grew up to attend college in Illinois and received her degree in teaching. After being recruited to teach out West, Grammie took the train over and began working at La Mesa Dale elementary school, eventually receiving her Masters degree from San Diego State University.

She was introduced to the Swiss immigrant who owned the local gas station, George Reber, and their love story began. Through 65 years of marriage, Grammie and Papa showed the family what true happiness looked like, never missing a chance to remind each other of their love. They became Mom and Dad to their four children, Linda, Sandra, Tom, and Sue, and eventually, Grammie and Papa to their grandchildren, Ian, Michael, Nicole, Natalie, George, Collin, Matthew, Emily, and Rachel.

Grammie prided herself on the traditions of her family and was known to have a song for every occasion. Her infectious laugh and endless love will be missed by all who knew her and we will carry her with us in all walks of life.

Her service will be held November 5, 2022 from noon to 3pm at Funeraria Del Angel Mortuary: 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, Phone: 619-425-911.
