Motorcycle run to benefit wildlife

The Nsefu Wildlife Motorcycle Monkey Run will be held Saturday starting at the Coffee Corner, 9608 Carlton Hills Drive, Santee. Nsefu Wildlife, Motorcycle Monkey and Full Circle Saloon are teaming to help end wildlife extinction in Africa. El Cajon mayor performs at charity concert

Bill Wells, mayor of El Cajon, and his band will perform a pop-rock concert to support Home of Guiding Hands from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Magnolia Theater, 210 E. Main St. Tickets are free for those with special needs and their family members; six tickets per family maximum. Home of Guiding Hands serves children and adults with developmen­tal and intellectu­al disabiliti­es in San Diego and Imperial counties. Wells and his band will be joined for a special performanc­e with Banding Together, musicians who have developmen­tal disabiliti­es. The Walker Family Foundation donated the funds to pay for the concert. The evening will include auctioning a Taylor guitar autographe­d by singer Jason Mraz. All auction proceeds will be donated to Banding Together. VIP tickets are $55 and include a pre-event band meet-andgreet and champagne reception, with guaranteed front-row seating. El Cajon seeking community volunteers

The city of El Cajon invites interested applicants to serve on several of the City Council’s committees and commission­s: Gillespie Field Developmen­t

Council; Mission Trails Regional Park Citizens Advisory Committee; Personnel Commission; Planning Commission; and Public Safety Facility Financing Oversight Commission. Free classes at Sharp resource center

•“Managing Diabetes Through Healthy Eating,” 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. Learn what a healthy plate looks like, how to read nutrition labels, tips for grocery shopping and strategies for eating healthfull­y while eating out.

Researcher to speak at AAUW meeting

The La Mesa-el Cajon Branch of the American Associatio­n of University Women invites the public to hear STEM researcher Estelle Reyes, senior vice president of community enhancemen­t at Los Angeles Cleantech Incubators. Reyes will speak at the club’s monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday in King Hall at Foothills United Methodist Church, 4031 Avocado Blvd., La Mesa.
