Francis Joseph St. Amour

-

CARLSBAD, CA — Frank St. Amour passed away Christmas Day ’22. As life-long tradition and good fortune would dictate, he was surrounded by his lovely wife, Dorothy, her sisters and a tearful yet joyous grouping of children and grandchildren gathered to celebrate this most Holy of Celebrations. None could have written a more appropriate script for this gentle man’s passing. All souls present were touched by the standard he had set for himself of a life well lived.

Francis Joseph St. Amour Jr. was born October 14, 1933 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan to Francis Joseph St. Amour and Margaret Mary St. Amour, sisters Susan and Katherine, brother Robert. He attended St. Claire Elementary, University of Detroit Jesuit High School, U. of D Jesuit College and graduated Loyola University, Los Angeles, 1955. As was

October 14, 1933 - December 25, 2022 the case with many of his contemporaries, Frank worked full-time while attending college and received his degree in four years.

Soon after graduation he began a career with College Life and was successful in the insurance industry for many years. He was recognized as the honor new agent from the outset, and was an asset to this company and his clients for many years. Dorothy and Frank enjoyed companysponsored vacations for both President’s Club and

conventions throughout the years, some of the fun highlights of their lives.

Frank married Dorothy Bowen (the enduring love of his life) at the age of nineteen. Frank and Dorothy were blessed with five children: Mary Kay (Haygeman), deceased, Bettina (Haffey), Nannette St. Amour (Beaton), Frank III, and Anne (Frager). Frank enjoyed spending time with family. Often engaging in tennis, bridge, deep sea fishing, running on the beach, and yes… Chardonnay. If you were to ask Frank why he was a happy and fulfilled man, his response would be “family”! Appropriately so. He had special relationships with sons-in-law Drew, Bruce, and Mike. And of course his sistersin-law Mary, Elizabeth, Kathleen and Colleen and brother-in-law Tom, and grandchildren Emily, Bill, Courtney, Brent (deceased), Meghan,

Garrett, Christopher, Brett, Victoria, Ian, Colin, Jack and Brittany. Here, on earth, no one was more loved than our Frank.

Frank considered himself an old-school Catholic. His Catholic faith and devotion to Jesus and the Blessed Mother guided him through his wonderful, beautiful life. We miss him but know he is surrounded by the saints who have gone before him. So, you see, we will remember often… truly a man appreciated, whose life was well-lived and much admired.
