Notebook brand promotes making memories last

- BY ROXANA BECERRIL Roxana Becerril is a freelance writer.

The owner of Fingers Crossed Co., a line of notebooks and journals based in Banker's Hill, is encouraging people to embrace the new year and preserve special moments by putting their feelings into words.

“I have always loved the concept of making memories last,” said Victoria Schulte. “It's the idea of capturing moments and ideas, and making them last through words.”

Schulte, a former marketing manager at the Marrow Fine jewelry company, decided to turn the page on her career last year. Putting her undergraduate studies in writing from Point Loma Nazarene University to use, in October she launched an Instagram page to promote her business and share her vision for Fingers Crossed Co.

As a writer, Schulte said she has always recorded her thoughts on paper, calling it “magic” to be able to reflect on her ideas later. “It's so fulfilling to see how things turn out,” she said.

She said her collection of journals and notebooks — which are now available for preorder — will have prompts and space for words and ideas that can be used solo or with loved ones.

The line of journals ranges from $10 to $45 and features “funky” styles designed by Schulte. Each one can be

used for planning, journaling, creative writing or even documenting memories of specific people — like a “keepsake to look at when you're missing someone” who may have died or moved on from your life.

Schulte said she hopes to expand her line of goods by teaming up with other creators to make items like ash trays, customized lighters and digital journal templates. Though launching a business has been a big adventure, but Schulte said she's enjoying it.

“I have always used the phrase ‘'Fingers crossed it works out' and it always works out,” she said.
