MAN, 29, SERIOUSLY INJURED IN STABBING

San Diego police are investigat­ing a stabbing in the Gaslamp Quarter early Saturday morning that left one man with serious injuries.

The 29-year-old victim was walking on the sidewalk down Fifth Avenue near G Street in downtown San Diego with a friend when they bumped into two other men who were also walking down the sidewalk, police said.

A “physical altercatio­n” ensued and at one point the victim was stabbed twice in the chest, according to police.

The two groups separated and the injured man flagged down a nearby police officer, who gave him first aid and called paramedics.

The victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Woman struck by hit-and-run driver in Mira Mesa not expected to survive

A pedestrian was gravely injured in a hitand-run crash in Mira Mesa on Saturday, San Diego police said.

The collision was reported about 1:30 p.m. on Camino Ruiz near Jade Coast Drive.

The pedestrian was headed west across Camino at Jade when a Cadillac STS failed to stop for a red light and struck her, police said. The woman was rushed to a hospital with numerous injuries and is not expected to survive.

She was in a crosswalk at the time of the crash, police said.

The red or burgundy Cadillac was last seen headed north, according to police. The incident is being investigat­ed as a felony hitand-run.

Man, 18, wounded during fight at City Heights apartment complex

An 18-year-old man was wounded after a fight in front of a City Heights apartment complex escalated to a shooting Friday, San Diego police said.

The gunfire erupted shortly before 4 p.m. as patrol officers were responding to a report of a gathering of about 10 young people arguing and causing a disturbanc­e on 44th Street near Orange Avenue, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Following the shooting, the group scattered, Officer Darius Jamsetjee said.

Paramedics took the victim to a hospital with injures that weren’t thought to be lifethreat­ening.

Police had no immediate descriptio­n of the shooter.
