AGGIES NIP SJSU TO STAY ON ROLL

Steven Ashworth scored 19 points, Max Shulga sealed the victory with a free throw with five seconds left and host Utah State rallied to beat San Jose State 75-74 on Saturday night.

Ashworth added six assists for the Aggies (16-4, 5-2 Mountain West). Shulga had 15 points with five rebounds, while Daniel Akin scored 13.

Tibet Gorener finished with 20 points for the Spartans (12-8, 3-4). Alvaro Cardenas Torre added 17 points, four assists and three steals. Omari Moore contribute­d 16 points and eight assists.

Ashworth had 16 points in the second half for the Aggies, who trailed 37-30 at intermissi­on.

In a log jam in the top half of the Mountain West standings, the Aggies will travel to California next, meeting San Diego State at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Viejas Arena.

Utah 86, Washington 61: Branden Carlson scored 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting, Rollie Worster finished a rebound shy of a triple-double and host Utah never trailed in its win over Washington. Carlson had eight rebounds, three steals and three blocks and Worster had 11 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds.

Marco Anthony won the battle with Worster for a rebound — without a Washington player in the vicinity — with about a minute left, drawing boos from the crowd. Anthony scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds — his fourth doubledoub­le of the season — and Gabe Madsen scored 17 points for Utah (14-7, 7-3 Pac-12).

Keion Brooks Jr. led Washington (12-9, 4-6) with 17 points, nine rebounds and four blocks. Cole Bajema scored 13 points and Noah Williams added 10 points.

USC 77, Arizona State 69: Drew Peterson scored 19 points, Boogie Ellis (Mission Bay High) added 18 for the visiting Trojans. Peterson sank 7 of 11 shots with three 3-pointers for USC (14-6, 6-3 Pac-12 Conference).

Ellis hit four 3-pointers, grabbed six boards and handed out four assists. Tre White contribute­d 12 points

and seven rebounds before fouling out.

Warren Washington tallied 21 points and eight rebounds to pace the Sun Devils (15-5, 6-3).

Stanford 71, Oregon 64: The host Cardinal won their second conference game with a home victory over the Ducks. Spencer Jones led Stanford (7-12, 2-7 Pac-12) with 16 points. Oregon (11-9, 5-4) was led by Jermaine Couisnard with 18 points on 4-for-12 shooting, and the Ducks shot 37.9 percent from the field as a team.

Wyoming 58, Colorado State 57: Noah Reynolds scored 17 points to lead Wyoming and secured the win with a free throw with two seconds remaining for the host Cowboys (6-13, 1-6 Mountain West). Wyoming stopped an eight-game slide with the victory. Isaiah Stevens led the way for the Rams (10-11, 2-6) with 15 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.

Fresno State 76, UNLV 63: Isaiah Hill had 28 points in Fresno State’s 76-63 victory against UNLV. Hill had five assists for the Bulldogs (7-11, 3-4 MW). Elijah Harkless finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals for the Rebels (12-7, 1-6).

Portand 91, Pepperdine 76: Moses Wood had 17 points in Portland’s home victory against Pepperdine. Wood also had five assists for the Pilots (11-11, 3-4 WCC). Maxwell Lewis led the Waves (7-14, 0-7) in scoring, finishing with 18 points.

Saint Mary’s 77, Santa Clara 58: Aidan Mahaney scored 20 points to lead four Gaels in double figures as Saint Mary’s rolled to a home win over the Broncos. Mitchell Saxen added 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting for the Gaels (18-4, 7-0 WCC). Carlos Stewart scored 17 for Santa Clara (16-6, 4-3).

San Francisco 82, BYU 74: Tyrell Robert scored 30 points to lead San Francisco over visiting BYU. Khalil Shabazz added 21 points for the Dons (14-9, 3-5 WCC). The Cougars (14-9, 4-4) were led by Rudi Williams’ 28 points.
