Jan. 22 TEMECULA Sunday Funday at Vail HQ

Jan. 23 MURRIETA Dog Tales
The Murrieta Public Library holds its Dog Tales program at 4:30 p.m. Mondays, except holidays. The program, in partnership with Love on a Leash, provides trained reading-education assistance dogs for children ages 3 to 12 to read to. Arrive early to sign up for a 10-minute slot. The library is at 8 Town Square.
Jan. 23 TEMECULA Mining presentation
The Temecula Valley Historical Society will host a presentation by Laura Zayats, president of the Temecula Valley Prospectors, speaking about and demonstrating techniques used by miners in the area during the heyday of mining in the late 1800s. The presentation, at 6 p.m. at the Little Temecula History Center at the corner of Redhawk Parkway and Wolf Store Road, will also look at the many types of metals and gemstones found in the area, and the legalities for modernday prospecting. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; the event is free.

The San Diego Blood Bank is holding blood drives hosted by local businesses in Southwest Riverside County. Donors must be 17 or older, weigh at least 114 pounds and be in good health. Pennypickle’s Workshop holds a Kids Only Club Frankenstein L.I.F.E. Laboratory science activity on Feb. 8. Ongoing VALLEYWIDE Blood donations
Donations of blood and plasma are needed for patients throughout the region. Lifestream hosts mobile blood drives at various locations as well as collections at its regular locations.
