SAN DIEGO — Dean Allen Lattman, born in San Diego on October 15, 1936, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2023. His parents, John Francis and Alice Genevieve Lattman, had moved to California from Nebraska, before Dean’s birth. Dean attended Sacred Heart Elementary and St. Augustine High School in San Diego. He made many lifelong friends during those years. He graduated from San Diego State College (as SDSU was known as then) majoring in Business and Finance. Dean met his future wife, Terri (Theresa Teiber), at State. They were married at Blessed Sacrament Church and would have celebrated their 61st Anniversar­y on January 6.

Prior to being drafted into the Army, upon graduation from San Diego State, Dean enlisted in the Army Security Agency and served at Fort Devens in Massachuse­tts, and then was stationed in Kassel, Germany. Terri was able to be with Dean in Germany and their first two children were born there. Their third child was born in San Diego. After leaving the Army Dean began working as a trainee at Security Pacific National Bank and held the positions of Asst. Manager, Manager, and Asst. Vice President, making commercial loans. Before his retirement he was a loan officer at Grossmont Bank.

Dean and his family enjoyed camping every summer, hiking, fishing in the Sierras, trips to many National Parks, and playing golf. Dean and Terri continued taking many trips with each other and with their lifelong friends.

Dean is predecease­d by his sisters, Diane and Sharon. He is survived by his wife, Terri, his children, Tod (Ofie), Karen (Dennis), and Lynette (Steve) and grandchild­ren Brandon, Nick, Brionne, Beau, Sarah, Jake, Hunter and Maggie.

Services will be held at San Diego Mission de Alcala, 10818 San Diego Mission Rd., San Diego, 10:00 A.M. A luncheon will be served in the California Room after the Mass. Burial will be held on a later date for family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the San Diego Zoo, Alzheimer’s Associatio­n in San Diego, or a National Park of your choice.
