Jean Mary Laflamme

-

DEL MAR, CA —

It is with great sadness that the Laflamme family announces the unexpected passing of Jean Mary Laflamme of Del Mar, California at the age of 80. Jean was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan with her two brothers Pete and Ted, and the daughter of William and Jeannie Omell.

While working at the Bank of Detroit she met Jerry Laflamme, and they married September of 1960 and soon moved to California where they raised their family together for 52 years.

Jean volunteered with many organizations such as Children’s Hospital Auxiliary, Loma Larcs, Del Mar Foundation, and The Boys and Girls Club. She held various positions while volunteering her time for others.

Jean was passionate about life, family, and friends. Over the years she became known for her well-received dinner parties, culinary skills, home decorator career, and her devotion to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.

Later in life she met Bob Daley at her favorite restaurant, Jakes Del Mar. It was the beginning of a beautiful partnership. Jean affectionately calls him her “loving Bob” and they spent their years traveling the world, enjoying fabulous food with friends, and taking road trips with the Porsche Club.

The family gathered one last time on January 14, 2023, at Jean’s home for their “make-up” Christmas Day which was due to a Covid diagnosis over Christmas. She was in great spirits, enjoying her family.

Jean was a supportive, loving, and generous mother to her 5 children, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. She was the best “grandmother” and loved by all her family and in-laws.

Jean is survived by her loving Bob, her brother Ted, her children Michelle, Denise, Annette, Suzanne, and Gerald; her 9 grandchildren: Megan, Ross, Mia, Julianna, Lily, Steven, Alexander, Ivy, Jaqueline, and her 2 great-grandchildren Rowan and Mae.

Jean will be remembered and missed by many who experienced her friendship, love of life, and beautiful caring heart. To know her was to love her. The family will host a Celebration of Life in March.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Rady’s Children’s Hospital of San Diego in her honor.
