TWO GRAVELY INJURED IN COLLISION
Two women suffered lifethreatening injuries Friday after the car they were riding in crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a sedan head-on in the Lake Murray area, San Diego police said.
The crash was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. near Lake Murray Boulevard and Dallas Street, said San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.
A 49-year-old woman was driving a 1966 Ford Mustang south on Lake Murray Boulevard approaching Jackson Drive with a 19-year-old woman sitting in a passenger seat, Heims said.
The Mustang crossed into oncoming traffic near Jackson Drive and continued to travel the wrong way until it struck a silver 2008 Subaru Impreza sedan just north of Dallas Street.
The driver of the Mustang suffered head trauma, a broken arm and internal bleeding, Heims said. The passenger suffered facial and orbital fractures, along with other serious injuries.
Both were taken to a hospital for treatment. The driver of the Subaru was not injured, Heims said.
Police said alcohol or drugs may have been factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
