TWO GRAVELY INJURED IN COLLISION

Two women suffered lifethreat­ening injuries Friday after the car they were riding in crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a sedan head-on in the Lake Murray area, San Diego police said.

The crash was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. near Lake Murray Boulevard and Dallas Street, said San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.

A 49-year-old woman was driving a 1966 Ford Mustang south on Lake Murray Boulevard approachin­g Jackson Drive with a 19-year-old woman sitting in a passenger seat, Heims said.

The Mustang crossed into oncoming traffic near Jackson Drive and continued to travel the wrong way until it struck a silver 2008 Subaru Impreza sedan just north of Dallas Street.

The driver of the Mustang suffered head trauma, a broken arm and internal bleeding, Heims said. The passenger suffered facial and orbital fractures, along with other serious injuries.

Both were taken to a hospital for treatment. The driver of the Subaru was not injured, Heims said.

Police said alcohol or drugs may have been factors in the crash, which remains under investigat­ion.

Man shot, rushed to hospital early Saturday

A 27-year-old man was seriously injured after being shot in the neck in Otay Mesa Saturday morning, San Diego police said.

The incident was reported about 6:05 a.m. on Cactus Road south of Otay Mesa Road.

Officers found the victim lying in the street, and emergency crews rushed the man to a hospital, police said. The man was uncooperat­ive with investigat­ors, and did not provide details about what happened.

No other witnesses were found, and the shooter is still outstandin­g.
