The Bonita Museum & Cultural Center presents “Photographic Portraits of Bonita,” a new exhibition by San Diego State University professor and Bonita resident Mark Siprut. The show opens Saturday with a chamber concert from 2 to 4 p.m. with the Bonita Quartet, and a public reception from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Also, from 3 to 4 p.m. April 8, the museum will host an artist walk-through of the exhibition, which runs through April 22. “Photographic Portraits of Bonita,” uses digital photography with historical context to explore Bonita and the Sweetwater Valley landscape, landmarks and architecture. The Bonita Museum & Cultural Center is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays at 4355 Bonita Road. Exhibitions are free and open to the public. Visit bonitahistoricalsociety.org.
Soapy Joe’s raising money for ed program
San Diego business Soapy Joe’s Car Wash has partnered with Rady Children’s Hospital and the San Diego Autism Discovery Institute’s early education program, Alexa’s PLAYC, to help raise money for the organization. Now through March 31, Soapy Joe’s will donate 25 percent of the proceeds from online and onsite sales to Rady Children’s Hospital. Use code “RADY” at checkout on soapyjoescarwash.com.
‘Moana Jr.’ presented at KIPP academy KIPP Adelante Preparatory Academy and Maraya Performing
Arts present “Moana Jr.,” astory of Pacific Islanders and self-discovery. Performances are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and March 17-18, and 2 p.m. Saturday and March 12, and March 18-19. Tickets are $15 for all ages at marayaarts.com/productions. The show transforms the school’s facilities into the show’s scenery. Dress casually with comfortable shoes, and be prepared to sit, stand and walk at times throughout the show. Audience members ages 4 and up must present proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours of their ticketed performance date. Chula Vista invites clean-up volunteers
Chula Vista is holding a Spring Cleaning event from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. All ages are welcome to meet at the Otay Recreation Center, 3554 Main St., to prepare to clean the neighborhood’s storm drains. For details or to register, visit bit.ly/41upxmj.
