Joann May Foster

March 5, 1930 - December 7, 2022

SAN DIEGO, CA — Joann May Foster, a native San Diegan, passed away on December 7, 2022, at the age of 92.

Joann was the daughter of Orrin and Hazel Foltz. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, George; her sister Gerry, and grandson, Jonathan.

Joann attended Hoover High School and graduated from San Diego Junior College.

She and George lived most of their married life in the College Area and were very active in supporting the Aztec Athletic Foundation at SDSU. Joann was a member of the San Diego Opera Guild, Angels of Aseltine Auxiliary, and Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary.

Entertaining and gardening were her favorite pastimes, but nothing brought her more joy than being surrounded by her family and celebrating special occasions.

Joann is survived by her 3 sons: Larry (Margee), Craig (Karen) and Brian (Grace) and her nephew, Mark. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren: Kristen, Gregory, Jessica,

Alyssa, Sara, Nicholas, and Stephanie. And doubly blessed with 13 great-grandchildren: Cameron, Foster, Liam, Duke, Briar Rose, London, Axel, Collette, Judah, Wolf, Francis, Silas, and Sawyer.

Joann was especially fortunate to have so many dear and dedicated friends and neighbors. A special thank you to Lutz, Bruce, Patrick, Jim, Sharon, Sandy, Mike and Anthony for their love and support throughout the years.

No services were held at the request of Joann. The family suggests donations to Rady Children’s Hospital or the charity of your choice.
