CHULA VISTA — Barb Jensen passed away peacefully on February 1, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margit Johnson of Chicago.

Barb is survived by her daughter, Gale Krause (Jim Krause, Dec.) and son Tom Jensen, MD (Karen Boudreau) of Pt. Loma, as well as three grandsons who adored her: Andrew Krause (Maren), Mark Krause & David Krause, and a one-year-old greatgrandson, James Krause.

Like many of her generation, Barb stayed home to raise her children. Her husband, Tom Jensen, was in management with IBM at a time when frequent moves were de rigueur. Barb also managed the family’s many IBM relocations. After starting in Chicago, the family moved to Peoria, IL; Long Island, NY; Bombay, India; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Baltimore, MD; Bloomfield Hills, MI; Atlanta, GA, and San Diego, CA.

Returning to school in the 1980s, Barb completed an Associate’s Degree in Medical Transcription at Mesa College before she and Tom divorced. Barb was a medical transcriptionist at SD Children’s Hospital and Sharp Memorial for 15 years before retiring in 2001.

With a great sense of humor, a wonderful laugh and an ability to listen compassionately, Barb had many friends. She enjoyed travel, the theatre, getting together for lunch or Tea, and she always looked forward to the annual Christmas Eve Smorgasbord she helped to orchestrate. She loved a get-together!

Barb was blessed with a long, full life, and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to her caregiver, Vicky, for being a wonderful friend to Barb during the past six years. We also want to thank the caregivers at Fredericka Manor where Barb resided for the past three years, and Traditions Health for the care they provided during the past year.

A future celebration of life is planned.
