SANS LEONARD, CLIPS LOSE AT HOME TO MAGIC

-

Markelle Fultz scored 12 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter, Wendell Carter Jr. had 27 points and 12 rebounds, and the Orlando Magic snapped their twogame skid with a 113-108 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.

Franz Wagner scored 20 points and hit a gutsy 3pointer with 40 seconds to play for the Magic, who had lost five of six before securing one of their most impressive road wins of the season. Orlando scored 39 points in the final period, including 18 in the final 3:52.

Orlando coach Jahmal Mosley said the offensive performance “ranks up there” among the Magic’s best.

“But to be honest with you, I’m happier that we finally sat down and guarded in the fourth quarter,” Mosley added. “Our guys did a great job of finally putting it all together down the stretch.”

Fultz had another impressive game in his lateseason surge, going 10 for 17 and grabbing six rebounds. He got all 12 of his fourthquarter points in the final 4:36.

“It was huge, especially because we’ve had moments like this in the past where we didn’t close out,” Fultz said.

Paul George scored 30 points for the Clippers, whose four-game winning streak ended on the last contest of a five-game homestand.

Kawhi Leonard skipped the game to rest his right knee, sitting out for the 29th time in the Clippers’ 71 games. Los Angeles missed a chance to move within a half-game of Phoenix in fourth place in the Western Conference standings.

Knicks 116, Nuggets 110: Jalen Brunson scored 24 points in his return from a left foot injury, leading host New York over the Western Conference-leading Denver.

Brunson had 16 points in the first quarter to get the Knicks off to a quick start, then finished strong to help them come back after trailing by 13 in the second half. Brunson had missed five of the last six games and made it through only half the one game he did play because of soreness.

76ers 141, Pacers 121: Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey each scored 31 points and Tobias Harris added 24 as Philadelphia routed host Indiana to match its season high with an eighth consecutive victory.

Raptors 122, Timberwolves 107: Pascal Siakam had 27 points and 10 rebounds and Toronto extended its season-high home winning streak to seven by beating Minnesota.

Bulls 113, Heat 99: Demar Derozan scored 24 points to lead a balanced Bulls offense and host Chicago held off a late surge by Miami to beat the Heat.

Kings 132, Wizards 118: Domantas Sabonis had 30 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, and Terence Davis II provided an early spark off the bench and added 21 points as visiting Sacramento beat Washington.

Grizzlies 133, Warriors 119: Jaren Jackson Jr. had 31 points and four blocks and host Memphis used a fourthquarter push to defeat Golden State.

Jazz 118, Celtics 117: Lauri Markkanen scored 28 points to lead host Utah over Boston.

Friday’s late result

Celtics 126, Trail Blazers 112: Jayson Tatum had 34 points and 12 rebounds, and visiting Boston withstood a late Portland rally for a victory over the struggling Trail Blazers.
