Just in Time welcomes two new board members

Wendy Mckinney and Jessica Friesen have joined the board of Just in Time for Foster Youth (JIT), a nonprofit organization dedicated to engaging a caring community to help transition-age foster youth achieve self-sufficiency and well-being.

Mckinney, former chief development officer for the American Red Cross and the San Diego History Center, and former development director for the Neighborhood

House Association, has raised millions to benefit the San Diego region.

As a former Financial Services Executive for AIG, she successfully led the company’s sales and marketing team.

For more than 30 years, she has also trained hundreds in leadership through conferences, retreats and motivational speaking.

Mckinney and her husband, George, live in San Diego, where they co-pastor a local Christian ministry.

“As a community leader and pastor, I have had the privilege of mentoring young people, for decades, who experienced the foster care system,” she said. “When I was introduced to Just in Time for Foster Youth by one of my mentees, I couldn’t believe the extensive services they had to offer to help improve the lives of the young people that my husband and I have been fighting for. I fell in love and got involved as a volunteer immediately.”

“I count it a privilege and an honor to join the board of Just in Time, one of the region’s most caring and impactful organizations,” she added. “I am beyond excited and committed to assisting them in helping young men and women transition out of foster care to become world changers and dynamic leaders who are confident, capable and connected.”

Friesen is a volunteer coach within the Just in Time community and serves as assistant vice president, commercial associate at Bank of America.

She brings experience in sales, project and relationship management to the Just in Time board and she and Bank of America have long supported the organization’s mission.

Friesen has an MBA from San Diego State University.
