The city of Chula Vista has applied for the Bicycle Friendly Community designatio­n from the League of American Bicyclists.

The league wants to hear from local cyclists and is asking for their help completing a survey and providing input on the city’s bicycle network. The survey will remain open through April 5. Find the survey at bit.ly/3jgxbx8.

Register now for National City cleanup day

National City is taking registrati­ons now for volunteers to take part in the annual community service park cleanup day on April 29.

Free compost available to Chula Vista residents

Republic Services is offering free compost to Chula Vista residents from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Otay Landfill, 1700 Maxwell Road, Chula Vista. Bring shovels for loading, containers to hold it, and tarps to cover your compost. Adding compost to garden soil helps the soil retain moisture and nutrients, attracts beneficial organisms and reduces the need for pesticides and fertilizer­s. Call (619) 691-5122.

South County residents asked to take parks survey

Partnershi­ps 4 Success, a program of the Institute for Public Strategies, is asking South County community members to take its Park Equity Survey. The survey asks people to evaluate their local parks. The results will be used to improve parks and rec programs in the South and Border Region of San Diego County.
