SAN DIEGO — Lucille Marie Bass of North Clairemont passed away Monday, May 29, 2023, at age 84. She was unable to recover from a recent illness. She was born in Pana Maria, TX, on October 24, 1938.

She was predecease­d by her husband, Kenneth R. Bass (11/2021), her infant daughter Katherine Bass (3/1961) her parents, Ignac and Katherine Dugie. She is survived by her brother Roger Dugie and his wife Patti of Alice, TX, and her children Annette (Bass) Dahn, Thomas Bass, Micheal Bass, and his wife Susie (Yeager) Bass. Lucille has seven grandchild­ren; Annette’s children, Kyle, Joshua, and Nathan Dahn of Minnesota, and Micheal and Susie’s children, Stephen Yeager, Katherine(bass) Petzold, her husband Chris Petzold, Joseph Bass and Hannah Bass of Anaheim, CA.

Lucille grew up in Corpus Christi, TX; she was the oldest of seven children. She graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1957; she married Kenneth in 1960. He was in the Navy, and his tours took the family to Morocco, Africa, and around the USA, Norfolk, Virginia, San Diego, California, and Corpus Christi, Texas. They settled in San Diego again when Kenneth retired from the Navy after 20 years of service.

She was a 50+ year resident of Clairemont. She was a stay-at-home mom and took great care of her family. She was involved in Girl Scouts with Annette and Boy Scouts with Thomas and Micheal. When her sons were in high school, she went to San Diego Mesa College and achieved her AS degree in Business management at the age of 56. She worked many retail jobs in the area, at Builders Emporium, the garden center at the Naval Training Center and Radio Shack in La Jolla. Family was very important to her. She and Kenneth enjoyed time with family after retiring.

Visitation followed by funeral service is June 15, 2023 at 11am at Clairemont Mortuary, 4266 Mt Abernathy Ave, San Diego, CA 92117.
