Louis Michael ‘”Mike”’ Horvath II

SAN DIEGO — Mike Horvath passed away peacefully at home surrounded by love on May 23, 2023. Mike was the son of Louis & Mildred Horvath, & grew up in Ocean Beach, attending OB Elementary, Dana Jr. High, Point Loma High School, & he graduated with a B.A. from National University.

Mike was proud to serve as a Marine in the Korean War. After serving, he worked for Thomas J. Lipton in sales for almost 30 years, & since retirement has volunteere­d at the Point Loma Library as well as the San Diego Airport. Mike loved reading, travel, baseball, fishing, gardening, & wine tasting. He enjoyed being with people, always striking up a conversati­on with anyone and everyone. Mike & Pat traveled all over the world by land & sea, & returned many times to his favorite destinatio­n, Maui. Mike enjoyed many years of coaching youth sports, & also played slow-pitch ball, moving up to “senior” league as he got older.

Mike is survived by the love of his life

Pat, to whom he was married to just shy of 65 years, his son Craig (Elizabeth) and daughter Susie, grandchild­ren Ryan Guidi (Jaclyn), Cristina O’sullivan (Patrick), Nicholas Guidi (Julia), Francesca Cruze (Kenny) and Andrew Horvath, along with 7 great-grandchild­ren.

A Celebratio­n of Life will be held on June 23rd; please contact the family for details. A private family interment will be held later this year. The family wants to thank the wonderful caregivers that helped deliver much comfort & care in his final days. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Friends of the Library, Point Loma Branch.
