Carlsbad co-working space brings women together
A co-working space founded by women, for women, Hera Hub Carlsbad is providing a space for likeminded female entrepreneurs seeking community.
“Getting into a supportive environment gives an entrepreneur the benefit of other ideas and a fresh perspective,” said the branch’s owner Lisane Basquiat. “It’s helpful to have other people to give you feedback and cheer you on.”
Basquiat — who co-administered her late brother and renowned painter Jean-michel Basquiat’s estate — is a life strategist and owner of Shaping Freedom, a company dedicated to helping individuals “build healthier

and stronger family dynamics, and legacy.”
Basquiat discovered Hera Hub Carlsbad after moving to the area in 2012. At the time, the co-working space was owned by the company’s founder, Felena Hanson. Five years later, Hansen was in search of someone to take over and asked Basquiat to consider the move.
Basquiat saw the opportunity as another “tenet in my overarching goals of helping people to be more successful and to thrive in whatever it is they are doing personally or professionally.”
Hera Hub has several other locations in Southern California — including branches in Mission Valley and La Jolla — as well as offices in Washington, D.C., and Chicago.
As the owner the Carlsbad branch, Basquiat seeks to empower women by providing gender-inclusive communal and private work spaces, conference rooms, a gym, support programs, workshops, events, and more.
Memberships are charged on a month-to-month basis, starting at $99 per month for online access to virtual events only. There are four other membership tiers with access to Hera Hub Carlsbad’s co-workng space.
