SURFING, ART AND THEATER SET STAGE FOR GREAT WEEK
If you’re looking for something fun to do this week, catch the action at the USA Surfing Championship in Oceanside and/ or the annual Bro Am surfing celebration in Encinitas. Away from the water, check out a world-premiere at the La Jolla Playhouse, award-winning films at the French Film Festival, a sour beer fest at Stone Brewery and an artist talk at The Museum of Contemporary Art.
‘Love All’ at Playhouse
Don’t miss the world premiere of Anna Deveare’s Smith latest work, “Love All,” on stage now through July 2 at the La Jolla Playhouse.
“Love All” is the story of the rise of sports icon and social justice pioneer Billie Jean King, who faced tough competition on the court and adversity in the world, all against a backdrop of the massive social changes of the 1960s and ’70s.
The play is directed by Marc Bruni, with performances Tuesday-sunday.

Switchfoot Bro-am
It wouldn’t be summer without the Switchfoot Bro-am, a surfing and music celebration that will be held Saturday at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas. The event features a charity surf competition, local vendors and other fun and is focused on giving back to youth in the community.

USA Surfing Championships
Speaking of surfing, the USA Surfing Championships and Team Trials are happening Tuesday-saturday at the Oceanside Harbor North Jetty.
Oceanside is an official training space for the best surfers and stand-up paddlers from across the country for competition and includes longboard, SUP and adaptive divisions.

Stone Sour Fest
Stone Brewery in Escondido is hosting its Stone Sour Fest, featuring sour beers from over 20 breweries, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.
Admission is $75 and includes 15 tastings, one food ticket, live music and a commemorative glass to take home.

San Diego French Film Festival
The Alliance Francaise de San Diego is hosting the San Diego French Film Festival at The Lot in La Jolla through Tuesday.
Tickets for each day include a selection of short films and a feature film
Part of the profits will support educational programs for students learning French in San Diego schools.

Artist to speak at MCASD
The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego is hosting a talk by conceptual artist Celia Álvarez Muñoz at 5 p.m. Thursday.
The museum is publishing a full-color publication about Muñoz’s first museum retrospective through the decades of her career.
The event is free, but there is a recommended donation.
