CHINO VALLEY, AZ — Rick passed away of a sudden cardiac arrest. He was born in San Diego, CA., graduated from Crawford High School in 1964, and was a finished carpenter then became a Locksmith and was self-employed. He retired and moved to Mariposa, CA in 2005 where he built a beautiful home and horse facility. In 2020, he moved to Chino Valley, AZ where he lived out his

remaining life. He was an Eagle Scout, enjoyed hunting with his dad, competitio­n shooting, and fishing. Everywhere he lived, he made long-lasting friends. His most proud achievemen­t was volunteeri­ng with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, of which he worked almost 30 years and retired as Commander of over 200 reserves, of which he kept in contact with. was affiliated with Unity Lodge #632 in San Diego, CA., A Life Member of the Mariposa Lodge #24 in Mariposa, CA., and a member of the Azlan Lodge #1 in Prescott, AZ. He received awards such as Mason of the Year, Hiram award, and for being a Mason for over 50 years.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Eugenia Middlested. He is survived by his wife,

Cathy Middlested, his 2 sisters Donna Thomas and Joyce Middlested, cousins, in-law family members, and many friends. A celebratio­n of life will be planned in Chino Valley, AZ and in San Diego, CA later this year. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity, food bank, or volunteer group.
