ESCONDIDO — Pok Sun Bacher born October 5, 1941. She lived a remarkable life from humble beginnings, growing up during the Korean War. The youngest of five and losing her mother and brother during the conflict. Sun loved Korean martial arts, earning a 3rd degree black belt in taekwondo and ultimately becoming a Korean national champion in 1972. She was a gifted artist, enjoying china painting, artistic weaving and hairstyling as a cosmetologist. She met her husband in 1969 when he was on TDY to Osan Air Force Base. This was the beginning of a 50 plus year partnership in life pursuits of love, adventure and martial arts. She and Bryce were married in 1973 and lived in Escondido until her passing.

Sun and her husband Bryce enjoyed many adventures traveling in Europe, Asia, Pacific Islands, Caribbean Islands and the USA. Sun was very proud to have visited all 50 states and earned her American Citizenship.

Sun was exuberant, adventurous, fearless, a breast cancer survivor; a strong woman molded by her life experience and by her determination to provide security for herself, family and friends, She truly possessed an unconditional love for those she called friends and family.

Sun was grateful for every adventure in her life and for everyone who passed her way. My warrior love died in her sleep under Hospice Care in our home on July 9, 2023 at 5:32 pm.
