Thanksgiving is upon us and it’s time to get into the holiday spirit. San Diego is kicking off the season with holiday markets, festivals, shows and charitable fun. You’re sure to find something for everyone.
Encinitas Holiday Street Fair
The Encinitas Holiday Street Fair is happening from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today along South Coast Highway 101, between J Street and D Street.
Since 1989, the holiday fair has offered children’s activities and rides, two stages of live entertainment, food, beverages and more in a beautiful setting. Thousands of people flood downtown Encinitas to browse merchandise from vendors showcasing unique arts, handmade crafts, antiques and ethnic imports

Surfin’ Santa Parade
Seaport Village is bringing back the annual Surfin’ Santa Parade & Photos from from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Watch Santa catch a wave before posing with the kids. Music, food, fun and photo opportunities are all part of the holiday feature.

Christmas tree lighting in Julian
Feeling nostalgic for the “traditional” Christmas experience that doesn’t involve surfing Santas? Enjoy an old-fashioned tree lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in downtown Julian.
The event is part of Julian’s Country Christmas. Catch the Christmas Market in the town square from noon to 8 p.m., go ice skating at the farm and find other holiday experiences.

‘Lightscape’ at Botanic Garden
“Lightscape” is back at the San Diego Botanic Garden, through the New Year. New installations and old favorites light up the one-mile loop that combines stunning light displays with natural wonders.

‘Scrooge’ show at Old Globe
Another holiday season tradition, “Ebeneezer Scrooge’s BIG San Diego Christmas Show” is returning to the Old Globe Theatre through Christmas Eve.
Bringing the classic elements of “A Christmas Carol” together with comedic twists and modern humor, this fun show is great for ages 5 and older.

Beer and Cider Fest
If you’re heading to the races at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club on Friday, don’t miss Beer and Cider Fest from noon to 4 p.m.
The festival is $15 with the purchase of racetrack admission and features 50 brews, ciders, seltzers and seasonal drinks as well as a selection of food.
Representatives are on hand to answer any questions about the libations.
