Nicholas Banche
October 15, 1934 - December 15, 2023
CARLSBAD — Husband, father, attorney, proud former Marine, Nicholas Banche, passed away at home on December 15th. He was 89.
Nick is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jean Ann, his sister, Mary Ann, his children Sheila Jacobs (Brad); Nick Banche (Athene) and Mary Kate Sweeney (Mike) as well as 5 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren. He also leaves wonderful friends, cousins and other relatives in California and Illinois who will celebrate his memory in the years to come. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and
Nick was born in Collinsville, Illinois to Italian immigrants. He graduated from Collinsville High School and St. Louis University’s School of Commerce and Finance. In 1957 he married Jean Ann Mcshane and took a Commission in the U.S. Marine Corps where he proudly served in Quantico, VA and Oceanside, CA until 1963. Nick graduated first in his class from USD School of Law in 1963 and began a successful 35- year career in North County, eventually specializing in development and landuse. In 1970, Nick served as President of the North County Bar Association. He retired in 1998. Nick’s lifelong passions were baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals, particularly; horse-racing; great food; great cigars; and his family. He was a good man and lived a long life. He will be missed.
A memorial Mass will be held January 4th at 11:00a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 3821 Adams Street, Carlsbad, CA 92008. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to Tunnel to Towers (www.t2t. org.) or the Wounded Warrior Project (www. woundedwarriorproject. org.)
