SAGO brings jungle-inspired nightlife to Encinitas

SAGO is bringing a sophisticated nightlife venue to Encinitas where people can dine and socialize in style.

The modern supper club at 485 South Coast Highway 101 is owned by Dale Polselli, who also owns popular Encinitas night spots like Shelter, a cocktail lounge and bar, and The Saloon.

“This is just a little more sophisticated version of (a nightclub) ...geared towards people that may have done the bottle service, nightclub stuff and now they’re more about a chic, vibey atmosphere,” he said.

The 120-seat restaurant and lounge has a jungle-inspired vibe with real Kentia palm trees that are about 20 feet tall. The lavish space also features an indoor atrium, hydroponic lighting system, high-end Funktion-one sound system and semi-private lounge areas.

Polselli said his team is focusing on shareable food options and a light, globally-influenced menu. Helmed by Executive Chef Frank Fleisher (formerly of Juniper & Ivy), the kitchen will serve dishes like black truffle fries and wagyu corn dogs, as well as artisan pizzas and raw dishes like blood orange hamachi crudo.

The kitchen closes at 10 p.m. daily. Brunch service is available on Saturday and Sunday.

For drinks, SAGO features a tropical

Live DJ’S will provide entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights.

“Encinita is amazing,” said Polselli. “People are blown away when they walk into the space. I can’t tell you how amazing it is to feel that type of energy from people.”
