HELIX WATER DISTRICT OKS FEE HIKES, OTHER CHANGES FOR LAKE JENNINGS PARK

It will cost more next year to fish, rent boats and camp at Lake Jennings Park, the reservoir and outdoors destinatio­n in Lakeside overseen by the Helix Water District.

The hikes were approved unanimousl­y by the Helix Water District board and will become effective Wednesday.

The daily and annual entrance fees to the lake will remain the same ($2 and $50, respective­ly), but costs for fishing will increase from $9 to $10 for adults, $8 to $9 for seniors and $4 to $5 for children 8 to 15.

Kids younger than 8 were previously welcomed at no charge when accompanie­d by a paying adult, but the policy will change to allow free admittance to only one child with an adult who has a paid fishing permit. Additional children will be charged $5 per day. Children younger than 8 without an adult with a paid fishing permit will also be charged $5.

Boat rentals are also rising for the general public and military members with ID. Rowboat rental for a half-day for the public rises from $14 to $18 and from $19 to $23 for a full day; military will see a hike from $9 to $13 for halfday rentals, and $14 to $18 for a full day.

At the Lake Jennings Campground, full hookup sites with water, electricit­y and sewer service will rise from $42 to $44 per night from Sunday through Thursday and from $44 to $46 per night on Fridays, Saturdays and holidays.

Partial hookup sites with water and electricit­y will rise from $35 to $37 Sunday through Thursday and from $37 to $39 Fridays, Saturdays and holidays. Preferred view sites will also rise, from $38 to $40 Sunday through Thursday and from $40 to $42 Fridays, Saturdays and holidays.
