It is Newsom who earned this disgrace

- Bruce Reed Scripps Ranch

Re “Newsom: Homelessness crisis ‘disgrace’ in state” (Feb. 20): So our governor had an epiphany. After a year of declaring homelessness a priority, he calls our lack of progress a “disgrace.” He calls California a disgrace.

Shame on the governor. His job is to lead. His job is to fix the problems of the state. They are the same issues he ran on in the election. Well, a year later, he and his Democratic state Legislature have done nothing but talk about homelessness and throw millions of dollars at it.

Has his government measured the results of these millions of dollars spent? Does he have a plan to back his bold, but very obvious, statement about the continuing problem of homelessness? He has wasted a year. He should start to lead.

How does he expect California to improve if he doesn’t step up?
