Fire causes $1.2M damage to Scripps Ranch home
SCRIPPS RANCH
Flames tore through the garage of a Scripps Ranch home before spreading inside the house and causing an estimated $1.2 million worth of damage late Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Nobody was injured in the blaze, which began accidentally in the garage of the home, according to the San Diego Fire-rescue Department. Two adults were at the home when the fire began and escaped safely.
The blaze was reported about 4:25 p.m. at a two-story home on Charbono Point, in a neighborhood just west of where Pomerado Road meets Spring Canyon Road.
The first crews from the Fire-rescue Department arrived within five minutes and found the garage fully engulfed in flames, spokeswoman Mónica Muñoz said.
The flames apparently spread into the home, and a second alarm was requested just after 5 p.m., Muñoz said.
Firefighters had the blaze knocked down around 5:50 p.m., according to the Fire-rescue Department. The flames caused an estimated $950,000 worth of damage to the home and $250,000 to contents inside the home.
Crews from the Poway Fire Department helped San Diego firefighters, according to an online incident log. In total, more than 70 emergency personnel, including crews aboard nine engines and three trucks, helped to battle the blaze.
