ARTS EMPOWER AWARDEES NAMED FOR NORTH COUNTY

The Arts Empower Ovation Awards recognize and honor individuals and organizations that are working to ensure that every student in San Diego County “is engaged in personally relevant, equitable, standards-based arts education.”

Arts Empower is an initiative led by the San Diego County Office of Education. Its mission is to ensure highquality arts education for every student, supported through the collective impact of a motivated community of arts advocates. The North County region recently named its honorees:

Artful Advocate Ovation Awards: Kathryn Browne, Aviara Oaks Middle School, Carlsbad Unified School District; Matthew Armstrong, San Marcos High School, San Marcos Unified School District; Jeremy Walden, Mission Vista High School, Vista Unified School District

Creative Connector Ovation Awards: Luminary Arts, Bruce Blackwell, Executive Director; Levi Casias, El Camino High School, Oceanside Unified School District

Artistic Transformation Ovation Awards: Sofia Figueroa, Oceanside High School, Oceanside Unified School District; Daniel Jaime, Rancho Buena Vista High School, Vista Unified School District; Ryan Stanly, Mission Hills High School, San Marcos Unified School District

Enduring Artful Learner Ovation Award: Susan Stuber, Grapevine Elementary School, Vista Unified School District

Creative Leader Ovation Awards: Kris Orman, Vista Classical Academy; Cynthia Gray, Vista Magnet Middle School, Vista Unified School District; Nicole Nixon, Coastal Classical Academy Classics 4 Kids; Dana Zimbric, Artistic Director and Conductor Board of Education, Vista Unified School District; Rosemary Smithfield, School Board President; Heather Smith, Fallbrook High School, Fallbrook Union High School District; Stacy Pecore, Sullivan Middle School, Bonsall Unified School District
