San Diego State Football
After playing at the University of San Diego for a couple of seasons, Great Oak High School graduate Kuljian transferred to San Diego State. Coming into this year, Kuljian had punted 97 times for 4,051 yards for a 41.8 yards-perpunt average. Thirty-seven of his punts dropped within the opponents’ 20-yard line, 32 were fair caught and 21 were punts of more than 50 yards. So far this season, Kuljian has booted 26 punts with a long punt of 70 yards. He punted eight times against both Nevada and Colorado.
Joseph Conroy Palomar College Men’s Wrestling
Conroy, a graduate of Great Oak High School, previously wrestled at California Baptist University. The 174-pound athlete starred last year for the Comets. At the Santa Ana tournament last October, Conroy won his weight class and was the Upper Weight MVP. After a f irst-round bye, Conroy won four matches to earn his title, including a 2-1 decision over his Bakersfield opponent in the final round.
Casey Nimmo San Diego Mesa Baseball
Nimmo, a 6-foot-1, 200pound athlete from Temecula Valley High School, pitched 11 times last spring. The right-hander pitched 14 total innings with 11 strikeouts. His best game came against Fullerton during an 11-3 win when he struck out three batters. He also had two strikeouts against both El Camino and Rio Hondo. Nimmo will look to continue his performance in 2021.
Tara Prentice
UC Irvine
Women’s Water Polo
Prentice attended Murrieta Valley High School where she helped her team to a Division 2 CIF Championship. In three seasons with UC Irvine, Prentice has scored 168 goals. She was the team’s top scorer in both 2019 and 2020. She also has 45 career assists and 80 career steals. Prentice has been named to the All-Big West First Team in 2018 and 2019 and was on the ACWPC All-America First Team in 2020.
